Video games are blamed for various disorders in children. Video games develop aggressive personality among the players. It is also shown to make the players mind less attentive and hyperactive. Many games cause players to get bad nightmares and also successively develop insomnia. People have known to become addicted to games as much as the addiction to drugs and fast foot. Player’s ability to sense time is lost while playing games which can lead to become permanent and cause problems. Gamers tend to believe what ever shown or said in games and fail to distinguish between real world and the virtual world. But lately games have been introduces that promise the development of brains. Some games promise increase Intelligence Quotient and some games promise increased math skills. But can they provide what they promise. A recent research has revealed that they fail to increase any kind of metal strength. The video games should not only help is getting the person good at that particular game but also the person should be able to develop her cognitive skills to sufficiently distinguishable levels. Many players of these “Mental Training” video games have shown little or almost no development in the cognitive skills section. This is alarming since a lot of children around the world are given these games by their parents and relatives as a mental improvement tool. But instead children only waste their time and their eyesight trying to get better at these games. Recent calculations have showed that the market for such games has increased to a staggering $270 million in just North America. Many online games also promise better IQ and development of other mental skills. Some games go as far as promising money back if the games do not work.
